If you’re a fan of painting your furniture and giving it a new lease on life, then you’ll love Annie Sloan Black Wax which is used over chalk paint and brings out the brush strokes and texture, giving your project a unique appearance. You can also use this wax to give your paint a darker, richer tone. Many people choose to add black wax to lighter colours to enrich them but still have the desired colour those chose.

Chalk paint is becoming a popular choice of paint among those who love to repaint their furniture as you don’t need to do much prep work. However, to ensure that your paint won’t get scratched, it’s recommended that you seal it. After you’ve completed painting your furniture with chalk paint, you’ll want to use Annie Sloan wax to seal it. The wax is designed to be used specifically with chalk paint, so you don’t have to worry about the wax ruining the paint. After a few hours, the wax will be dry to the touch, but it will harden even more and become durable over time. Apply the wax over the furniture as you would apply lotion to your body, smoothing it out as you progress and removing any excess.

 

What You Should Know About Chalk Paint Wax

Annie Sloan chalk paint wax is the perfect sealant once you’ve completed your project using the ever-popular chalk paint. Here is what you need to know about this wax.


  • Chalk paint wax can be easily applied by using either a soft paintbrush or a lint-free cloth. If you’re using a cloth, you can pour some wax over the area and use a straight-line motion moving the wax from one side of the item to the other. Once you’ve reached the end of each side with the wax, ensure that you smooth the edges to prevent the wax from dripping off and creating droplets.
  • You can use chalk paint wax on most surfaces. If the surfaces are in a high-traffic area, such as skirting boards or tables, or more likely to be touched, you can apply another coat of wax after a few days. It will prevent your paint from being scratched.
  • If you’ve applied too much wax, this can be easily remedied. If you find too much wax early enough, you can wipe away the excess. Regrettably, many people only find out they’ve applied too much after it dries. If the wax is dry, you can still remove the excess by applying another thin coat, which dissolves the original coat and allows you to use a lint-free cloth and wipe away all the excess wax. If you notice white lumps or bubbles, then you’ll know you’ve applied too much.
