Minty of the Month
Because seeing your work makes us smile!

Congratulations Anita!
Congratulations Anita on being our
Minty of the Month!
After hairdressing since she was thirteen years old Anita decided that a career change was needed and thankfully for all of us, she chose to paint furniture!
Anita's gorgeous shop in Llandovery Wales UK has been open for just over two years and despite being in the midst of rural farming land, The ReWorks Llandovery draws people in from miles around for her gorgeous furniture and soy handmade soy wax candles.
We loved Anita's Sepia Tree drawers so much that we simply had to show it off to the world! Anita's work can be seen via her Facebook Page or Instagram and we highly recommend having a peek!

Our client’s postcards which held great significance, were photographed and digitally enhanced to form a single image for printing. Painted black with Annie Sloan Athenian Black Chalk Paint® to create a simple backdrop allowing the image to become the hero. The image was decoupaged and finished with an oil-based lacquer for maximum impact.
The Storm
French antique. Carvings on the fascia are The Storm by Pierre-Auguste Cot a famous French Painter. The painting depicts a man and woman escaping a storm, so bringing this story to life was what was most important in this piece. Equally as important was showcasing the beautiful timber which I refurbished to ensure it framed the carvings. Painted in Annie Sloan French Linen Chalk Paint® the details have been highlighted with a Annie Sloan Graphite wash and a dry brush back over with French Linen and Old White.

Young Girl Reading
The very first piece from which the Mint by Michelle Decoupage Range was born! I created the authentic aged look by using moulds to create the frame for the image around the piece and on the legs. A lot of gold, Annie Sloan’s Honfleur, Arles and Tilton chalk paints were placed under the image to help give it an aged look.
The Wave
Designed for a client with a penchant for Japanese art, Hokusai’s unmistakable ‘Great Wave Off Kanagawa print was decoupaged on to the front of this cute chest of drawers. Our first commission piece for a teenager, we ensured the remainder of the piece was kept simple with simple white cigar legs a navy body and modern white hardware.
Mother & Child
Painted in Annie Sloan Chalk Paints® Graphite, Honfleur and Burgundy plus a custom mix of numerous other Annie colours. The front has been decoupaged with the Mint by Michelle ‘Mother and Child’ decoupage paper and completed using an oil-based finish. I’ve added a lot of gold gilding and texture, blending and stencilling to bring this piece together. If you’re interested in some of the techniques used, visit our ‘tips & techniques’ page for more information.
Renaissance Flowers
This timeless piece has been painted in Annie Sloan Athenian Black Chalk Paint® and enhanced with our exclusive Mint by Michelle Renaissance Flowers decoupage paper. The lovely timber legs and rim around the top have been finished in shellac.
Happy Bouquet
A piece created during the 2020 lockdown period, it was created to bring light, love, fun and frivolity to an unknown future. I needed to occupy myself with something that conveyed cheer. The body has been painted in Annie Sloan Firle Chalk Paint® (my favourite Annie colour by the way!) and the flowers are all hand painted in every single Annie Sloan chalk paint colour in the range! And it makes me happy!
Hoodlum Punk
Another from my vintage stereo series. This punk rock stereo echo’s the anarchic attitude of the punk rock never mind the bollocks, sex pistols generation. Just like Johnny Rotten, I’m all for a ‘fuck the establishment attitude too! Painted in Annie Sloan Napoleonic Blue, Original and Emperor Silk.
Afterglow
This piece was spray painted in Annie Sloan Athenian Black Chalk Paint® to give it a clean and flat appearance. The flowers were applied with Annie Sloan Image Medium using a decoupage technique and created by using various coloured tissue papers applied to the surface. The different coloured tissues are applied thoughtfully to create a 3D effect giving depth and tone to the flowers.

Blossom
Painted in an ombre style starting lighter at the top and finishing darker at the base. The colours are Annie Sloan Provence Chalk Paint® at the top and and graduated to mix of Aubusson Blue and Pure colour paints. The stencil is a singular stencilled flower painted in Annie Sloan Pure Chalk Paint using a stencil brush and repeated across the piece. I have created the feeling of depth by applying the paints powder very softly to harder application for more pronounced flowers.
Lips
Rock & Roll people. This stereo is one of my favourite pieces! It embodies all things I feel about ROCK … attitude, sex appeal and angst. It’s painted in Annie Sloan Athenian Black, Pure White and Emperor Silk Chalk Paints®. The image is a black and white custom print with the ‘pop’ set of lips painted in Annie Sloan Emperor Silk.
Contour Retro
This retro set of MCM drawers was the perfect piece to apply a pattern of different and odd shaped pieces of colour to the front and leaving the blonde timber to the frame and legs to offset. I’ve used a range of Annie Sloan Chalk Paint® blues and greens – some mixed with white to tone down the shade. The colours have been graduated from dark to light from top to bottom and tied together with one singular Pure White chalk paint shape near the centre.

Swans
A recent piece using the Mint By Michelle Swans Decoupage Paper. A piece that will inspire whimsy and serenity wherever it's situated. The colour scheme was a blend of White chalk paints and Old Violet on the legs. Stunning on the inside with Barcelona Orange.
